Fancy Farm Debate

Governor Fletcher along with gubernatorial candidate Steve Beshear were among those on hand on Aug. 4 for the Fancy Farm Political Picnic .

The picnic, held annually in western Kentucky, is the traditional kickoff of Kentucky's fall campaign season.

It's also the kickoff of some real interesting ways of getting voters attention.

The two candidates for governor lit into each other at the big event on the topic of expanded gambling and whether the state should have it.

"Let me assure you of this. I will not bring casinos to Kentucky. I will not have casino gambling on my watch," Governor Fletcher assured.

"That's the issue folks. I trust the people of Kentucky to make that decision. This guy doesn't. That's the bottom line," Beshear responded.

Thousands attended the picnic today in Fancy Farm. This was the 127th year for the event.
