Former State Senator Walter Baker Dies at Home

A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home spokesman Terry Wilson says Baker died Monday afternoon after a long illness.

Baker was a retired lieutenant colonel with the Kentucky Air National Guard and earned his bachelor's degree and law degree at Harvard University.

He served in the Kentucky House and Senate and had been a member of the state Council on Post secondary Education since 1997.

Baker was appointed to the Kentucky Supreme Court in 1996 and retired in 2008.
