Obama Urges Congress Help Small Business Owners

President Obama says he wants to help small business owners.

The President urged Congress to pass a package of tax changes and credits plus a $30 billion program to boost lending to small businesses.

"Government can't guarantee a company's success, but it can knock down the barriers that prevent small business owners from getting loans or investing in the future. That's why so much of our economic agenda has been focused on America's small businesses," said Obama.

A Senate report last year found that American businesses with fewer than 20 employees suffered steeper job losses than larger companies during the economic downturn.
