Johnson, Thayer Mulling Run

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- A Navy veteran who dropped out of the Republican primary for U.S. Senate says he's considering running for governor in 2011.

Todd County businessman Bill Johnson tells the Lexington Herald-Leader he hopes to decide by June or July.

Despite bowing out of the race, Johnson garnered 8,000 votes in last week's primary election.

State Sen. Damon Thayer, a Georgetown Republican, says he's considering running for lieutenant governor with Johnson.

Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear is running for re-election with Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson as his running mate.
