FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- State Auditor Adam Edelen has released a review of the Cumberland Valley District Health Department that cites a lack of financial oversight.
The review also noted "unprofessional and uncooperative behavior" by the former head of the health department during the review.
Edelen said in a statement Friday, attempts to hinder his staffers from doing such audits won't be tolerated.
The review was done specifically to see if the health department had effective oversight of financial activity. The auditing team concluded it didn't.
The review found the director of nursing was being paid for full workdays, while she was teaching at Berea College four days a week. It also found credit cards were used for unnecessary purchases such as iPhones for employees and office supplies.
