FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- The former Bowling Green mayor said Thursday, because of early detection, the cancer had not spread to her lymph nodes.
Walker said she'll find out next week if chemotherapy will be necessary. She said early indications suggest it won't be.
Walker has been talking publicly about her disease, to encourage all women to get routine mammograms and to perform self-exams to catch the disease early.
Walker has about two months remaining in her term. She said she plans to maintain a regular work schedule.
