Guthrie Reacts to Jobs Numbers

Washington, D.C. – “Today’s announcement that the economy added only 69,000 jobs in May and unemployment increased to an abysmal 8.2% is a fresh reminder of the job-killing policies of this administration," said 2nd District U.S Representative Brett Guthrie.

“Over the past three and a half years, President Obama has offered policies that increased our national debt, failed to create new jobs, injected more uncertainty for job creators, and left our economy more vulnerable," Guthrie said.

"His failed stimulus bill, which spent over a trillion dollars, promised to prevent unemployment from rising above 8%. However, this marks the 40th consecutive month with unemployment above 8%. Clearly the President’s borrow-and-spend policies have done nothing to improve our struggling economy," continued the Congressman.

“We must promote a jobs agenda centered on supporting our nation’s small businesses and removing the burdensome regulations coming out of Washington," said Guthrie. "We need to work to get our country back on track and restore America’s competitive edge.”
