Interview with Bowling Green City Commission Candidate Mark Bradford

Updated: Tue 7:22 PM, Oct 16, 2012

We continue our series with the candidates for Bowling Green City Commission.

Mark Bradford says he's running because the city needs to keep its focus on the future.

"I think there's a tendency, the way things have developed," says Bradford, "that the county is kinda steering the ship here, and I think the city needs to take a bigger role in that, assert more of a role in that. We've seen that in many areas of the city and the county have been neglected and probably continue to be and remain to be neglected. And that the city take a more proactive role in the planning."

Bradford also told us what he thinks should be done with community growth in regard to exits off I-65.

"Well if you look 4 or 5 years ago, the plan was," he says, "it's all Scottsville Road. Put an interchange out there at 242 which now I think that plan has been shelved, with the new school there at South Warren and widening of 31W there it's pretty obvious that wasn't the thing to do. That would have thrown a monkey wrench in the whole thing actually. 240 would, I think, Woodburn there at 240 that'd be the better exit there. Plus I think we need to again exit 28 I think we need to try to do something up there."
