HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (AP) -- Jim Bunning, of Southgate, spent 24 years as a U.S. representative and senator before retiring.

Northern Kentucky University says Bunning also plans to donate memorabilia from his years as a professional baseball player for the Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Phillies.

The political papers won't be available for public use for several years, but the school has started raising money in an effort to preserve and digitize them.

The political papers of Kentucky congressmen Eugene Snyder and Ken Lucas are also stored at NKU.
