FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- House Speaker Greg Stumbo acknowledged Friday, some lawmakers are unhappy with the latest proposal from Democratic leaders. He said leadership is making another attempt to adjust the lines.
Stumbo said redistricting is always difficult because lawmakers often lose communities they're familiar with and take in communities that are unfamiliar.
Legislative and congressional redistricting occurs every 10 years to account for population changes. The plan has been to get that chore out of the way early in the legislative session, before moving on to other business.
The House is expected to vote on the congressional redistricting plan next week. Stumbo said it could be possible to wait until 2013 on the redrawing state House districts.
