Mayor Bruce Wilkerson took over the reins and began his first official day in full force.
"We may do some restructuring to this,"says Mayor Wilkerson as he points towards his desk.
It's just Mayor Bruce Wilkerson's first day on the job and already he's talking about moving a conference desk into his office, so everyone can share the room.
"I like the community, some people think that means your part of the good ole boy system that your all gonna do the same thing for the same reason but that's not the case with us we can respectively disagree," says Wilkerson, as he talks about his working relationship with the City Commissioners.
Wilkerson says he will use important lessons learned in his 20-year Police career to help him face challenges head on.
"If you come in prepared for discussions than you come in armed for the fight your about to have," says Wilkerson, who believes knowledge is power.
The new Mayor says the main battle on his mind is getting people jobs and improving the city.
"So the more jobs we bring in the greater amount of revenue the city has to spend on services for its citizens, so they go hand in hand," says Wilkerson.
Even though Wilkerson says he's ready to tackle issues, he admits he never really planned to be Mayor.
"I will tell you I never planned to be sitting in this position, you know when you think of things you say when you were a kid like hey I'm gonna run for president I'm gonna run for governor, I just never thought," says Wilkerson.
