LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Diana Ross delivered a statement on the death of her 28-year-old daughter, Amanda Ross, to Fayette County Commonwealth's Attorney Ray Larson on Friday, the Lexington Herald-Leader reports.

She says she has thought about the final moments of her daughter's life, thoughts she describes as "nightmares without answers."

Former State Representative Steve Nunn, son of the late Governor Louie Nunn, pleaded guilty last month to murder, in the shooting death of Ross, his ex-fiancee, and was sentenced to life without parole.

Ross says she believes her daughter must have been terrified, but that "an abundance of God's grace" has allowed her to understand she can't change what happened. She says her faith requires her to forgive Nunn, but that he must answer to the laws of God and man.
