This new poll, released at 4:00 p.m. CDT Thursday, also shows some 30% of Democrats crossing over to vote for Paul instead of their party's candidate.
Dr. Paul believes that's because those Democrats are more conservative than their party's leaders.
"They're pro-life," says Paul. "They're traditional family kind of Democrats. They are socially conservative and also fiscally conservative. And I think some of them feel that the leaders at the top of the Democrat party have left them. So I think a lot of conservative Democrats in Kentucky do vote Republican sometimes."
"I'm a closer," counters Democratic candidate Jack Conway, "and I think here in the last week people are focused on the clear choice that seniors have in this race, the clear choice that veterans have in this race, the clear choice that the women of Kentucky have in this race. We've got all the momentum. I'm excited and I'm gonna win it on Tuesday."
