Paul Wants to Cut 4 Departments to Balance the Budget in 5 Years

In it, he proposes eliminating the Departments of Energy, Education, Commerce, and Housing and Urban Development.

"Do I think I'm gonna win?" he asked. "Y,know I'm still pretty much a minority up there, but I think if you talk to people in Kentucky and around the country, they'll tell you we have serious problems and that they are ready for someone to step up and say, 'Yes I would change government, send a lot of functions back to the people, send a lot of functions back to the states.'"

Even Paul says it's a drastic way to balance the budget in five years!
But he says there would be a $19-million budget surplus after five years if his plan is adopted, and he says that's without raising taxes or changing Social Security or Medicare.
