"Well I think the most important thing government can do right now to help the economy get going," said Dr. Paul, "is to make the tax cuts permanent. You know we've had these tax cuts 7 or 8 years. Most businesses have predicated their decisions on these tax cuts. If you allow these tax cuts to expire it's gonna be an enormous tax increase which is the wrong thing to do in the middle of a recession."
"But I will go to Washington with the message I think the people of Warren County as well as the people of Kentucky sent me," continued the Senator-elect, "and that's to argue for a permanent extension of these tax reductions, because in the middle of a recession you don't want more money to leave from your check or from your business. You don't want to send more money to Washington. You need to keep more money in Kentucky so we can create jobs."
