FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Sen. Paul's chief of staff, Doug Stafford, told The Associated Press Tuesday, Paul had originally intended to stay out of the race to ensure that the seven GOP hopefuls had a level playing field heading into the May 22 primary.
But Stafford said Paul wasn't pleased that incumbent U.S. Rep. Geoff Davis and former U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning endorsed Republican Alecia Webb-Edgington on Monday.
Stafford, who has been volunteering in his free time to help Massie, said Paul is now considering whether to make a public endorsement.
Paul's father, Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, has already endorsed Massie.
