LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- House Minority Floor Leader Jeff Hoover says in a letter to Beshear and top lawmakers, convening lawmakers to handle redistricting would be a waste of time and money.
Hoover's comments Wednesday come one day after House Speaker Greg Stumbo said he prefers a special session to deal with redistricting, rather than waiting until the regular General Assembly session begins in January.
Stumbo says resolving redistricting this year would remove a contentious issue from the regular session, which will be dominated by work on a new state budget.
A Beshear spokeswoman said Tuesday no decision had been made regarding whether a special session is needed.
