The voters have spoken.

"I'll put it this way, I'd like to keep our money here in Elizabethtown instead of sending it to Louisville," said voter, Carolyn Terry.

Three cities in Hardin County all voted today to make their cities wet, Elizabethtown, Radcliffe, and Vine Grove.

Elizabethtown voted 3,051 yes to 2,021 no, Radcliff's totals were 1,567 yes to 1,025 no, and Vine Grove tallied 475 yes to 328 no.

The vote was just about right at about 60 percent yes and 40 percent no in all three of the cities.

"I voted yes, because one convenience. I think if you're legally able to buy it in the place that you live. I see it as being a right more than a privilege," said voter Jesse Aleshire.

Voters and supporters of the issue say the local economy is one of the biggest reasons.

"Myself, I don't drink, but as I say as far as the revenue is concerned, that's what I'm concerned about. Bring in more money for the people that live here," said voter Don Schwab.

"We're taking dollars out of this community to other communities and it really just makes no sense. It might as well stay here. It does more good staying here," said Hardin County Chamber of Commerce President Brad Richardson.

Voter turnout was low in the three cities today, and County Clerk Kenny Tabb says it's because of previous alcohol issues.

"The reason for that being, Elizabethtown, and Radcliffe are already moist, so to speak in that they have the restaurant provision," said Tabb.

Currently, alcohol sales are allowed at restaurants which seat 100 or more, and get 70 percent of their income from food sales.

Due to the classification of the city, Radcliffe is the only city that will be able to have bars.

Alcohol sales were also being considered in Junction City in central Kentucky.

Also on Tuesday, in Todd County, the city of Guthrie voted 196 to 62 to expand alcohol sales.
