LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Robin Williams wasn't just a funny guy, he was also a serious gamer.

And because of that, one of the ways he will be memorialized will be in the virtual world of Azeroth.

The late comedian and actor was a fan of "World of Warcraft", and after thousands of fans petitioned the developers, Blizzard Entertainment says it will create a character inspired by Williams.

Several late "Warcraft" players have been memorialized in the game's virtual world since it launched in 2004.

Williams was one of the nearly seven million people who played the game online.

The new version of the game is due out in November.
