Rachel M. Norris, 93, of Bowling Green, died at 11:55 a.m. Oct. 2, 2010, at an area nursing home. The Bowling Green native was born Feb. 23, 1917. She was a homemaker and housewife and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was a daughter of the late Willie Harvey Norris and Margaret Manco Norris and the wife of the late William Simmons. She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Ray Simmons, who died in 1984; and seven siblings. Funeral is at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Broadway Avenue chapel, with burial in Mount Pleasant Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Survivors include three grandchildren, Kenneth Ray Simmons and his wife, Tammy, Donna Lane and her husband, Roger, and Roger Dale Simmons, all of Bowling Green; great-grandchildren, Melisa Massey and her husband, John, Kenneth Ray Simmons and his wife, Bridget, Jacie Marie Simmons, Angela Nicole Simmons and William Casey Simmons; two great-great-grandchildren, Rebecca Lynn Massey and Marcus D. Massey; two sisters, Earline Wingfield of Bowling Green and Dorothy Laceado of Park City; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
