GLASGOW — Joel Wayne Read, 47, of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., died April 14, 2005, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn. The Barren County native was a former resident and business owner in Glasgow. He was a member of The Gathering Church in Tennessee and the Dry Fork Coonhunter’s Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kempton and Nell Harrison Read; one brother, Jimmy Read; his stepmother, Faye Smith Read; and a brother-in-law, Raymond Younkin. Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home in Glasgow. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Funeral in Tennessee will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at The Gathering Church with burial in Shiloh Cemetery in Pigeon Forge. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Rita Wheet Read; four children, Joel Read II, Jamie Read, Josh Read and his fiancee, Audra Hagan, and Jacob Read; two grandchildren, Allen Arms and Kirby Tate Read; two brothers, Dudley Read and his wife, Mary, and David Read and his wife, Billie; two sisters, Wanda Glass and her husband, Joe, and Amanda Read; three brothers-in-law, Mark Younkin and his wife, Julie, Steve Younkin and Jon Younkin; a sister-in-law, Cynthia York and her husband, Mark; and several nieces, nephews and friends. ., is in charge of Pigeon Forge arrangements.
