David Earl Chesnut Sr., 77 of Bowling Green, died at 8:52 a.m. Nov. 22, 2003 at a local nursing home. The Bowling Green native was a retired banker for American National Bank for 44 years, serving as executive vice president for 15 of those years; a graduate of Bowling Green High School, the Bowling Green Business University and the Graduate School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University; a past president of the Bowling Green-Warren County Chamber of Commerce; a past president of the Bowling Green-Warren County Water, Sewer and Sanitation Commission; a World War II Air Force veteran; lifelong member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he served as a ruling elder; a member of the Board of Finance of Old Logan Presbytery and the Kentucky Synod; member of the Noon Jaycees; past president of the Bowling Green Noon Lions Club; and a member of the Board of Directors at American National Bank. He was a son of the late Walter Franklin Chesnut and Fannie Meador Chesnut and husband of the late Betty Gayle Mitchell Chesnut. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Alzheimer’s Association of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Bowling Green. Survivors include two sons, Mark Chesnut of Nashville and David Earl Chesnut Jr. of Bowling Green; one daughter, Nancy Chesnut Moore of Bowling Green; four brothers, the Rev. Walter Chesnut of Leitchfield, the Rev. Franklin Chesnut of Fort Smith, Ark., James Chesnut of Paducah and Marion Chesnut of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Lola Alexander of McKinzie, Tenn., and Mary Elizabeth Mullins of Memphis, Tenn.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
