ST. LOUIS — James Earl Walker, 63, died Oct. 19, 2009, at Barnes Hospital. The St. Louis native was born Dec. 20, 1945. He completed his education at St. Louis Public Schools and was an excellent student. During his school years, “Walker” was an excellent football player and wrestler for his school. He loved to get lost in a good book. He had fun with “On the Spot” quizzes for anyone who dared. He was knowledgeable in many categories and loved all sports. He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Friendly Temple M.B. Church on June 18, 2006. He attended until his health failed and he loved his church family. He was a laborer and held positions as a construction worker, karate teacher, welder and tutor. He was the second child of 21 children. He was a son of the late Rev. John H. Walker and Equilla Walker and the husband of the late Leader Mae. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Funeral was Monday at Friendly Temple M.B. Church, with burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Austin Layne Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Survivors include two daughters, Equilla Walker and Clara Ann Walker; a loving and devoted companion, LaDonna McBee; seven sisters, Augustine Outtz and her husband, John, Catherine Ashley, Clara Johnson and her husband, Marvin, Octavia Lucious and her husband, James, Cynthia Williams, Edith Walker and Arcola Walker; five brothers, John H. Walker Jr., Antonio Walker and his wife, Arthurine, Wilbert Walker and his wife, Crystal, Peter Walker and his wife, Tammarra, and Antjuain Walker; 12 grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Helen Walker; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
