| GAMALIEL — Dennis Clyde Hammer, 83, of Beech Grove, Ind., formerly of Monroe County, died Nov. 1, 2009. The Monroe County native was born Sept. 3, 1926. He was a son of the late William Hammer and Locie Page Hammer. He married Maggie Cloyd on Dec. 19, 1951, in Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Samuel, James and Truman. Funeral is at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Strode Funeral Home, with burial in Monroe County Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Maggie Lee Cloyd Hammer; a son, Barry Neal Hammer of Beech Grove; four brothers, Herman Reed Hammer and his wife, Inell, of Tompkinsville, Reggie M. Hammer and his wife, Geraldean, and Harlie C. Hammer and his wife, Marcella, all of Beech Grove, Ind., and Leon M. and his wife, Patricia, of Glasgow; and a sister, Evelyn Bowles and her husband, Wallace, of Louisville. | |
