| Vera “Nadine” Smith, 79, formerly of Bowling Green, died at 4 p.m. Feb. 3, 2010, at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. The Metcalfe County native retired from Holley Carburetor, division of Colt Industries, and had previously worked at Fruit of the Loom. She was a 1949 graduate of Bowling Green High School who enjoyed her church, reading, gardening, meeting people and traveling. As a member of Calvary Baptist Church for almost 50 years, she sang in the choir and was secretary of the Rebekah Ruth Sunday School Class. She was a daughter of the late Ray and Judy Merideth. Funeral is at 2 p.m. Monday at Johnson-Vauhgn-Phelps Funeral Home, with burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 3011 Elrod Road, Bowling Green, KY 42104. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Smith Allen and her husband, Charles E., of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; an aunt, Cendia Harlan, of Warren, Mich.; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends who loved her. | |
