Clinton fever has come to Bowling Green. "Kentucky for Hillary" opened a new office and held an open house Monday. Crowds turned out to show support for their favorite candidate. A candidate they hope will stand out in Kentucky next week.

"A week from tomorrow is a big day in Kentucky, the election day, and we think that certainly our candidate, Hillary Clinton, is going to win Kentucky," said Jody Richards, Kentucky House Speaker, to a crowd of cheering supporters.

"The woman has a lot of purpose," said Barbara Burns, a Clinton supporter. "She wants to serve our country as best she can, and I believe she can do that as president."

Waving signs high and pinning buttons on every shirt, proud supporters of Clinton expressed their excitement over her lead in Kentucky's polls and the opening of the new Bowling Green office.

"This is exciting!" said Burns. "I have gone to different places to see her. I was in Shreveport, Louisiana when Bill came in right after he won his first election, so it's really exciting for a small town like Bowling Green to have people like this here working for Hillary."

"Women for Hillary!" shouted a crowd of supporters.

Although Clinton may be in the lead, supporters say that isn't the only reason they have high spirits.

"We'd still be cheering, yelling, and screaming even if she wasn't," said Burns.

Richards showed support by defining the qualities he feels Clinton holds: experience, knowledge, commitment, and courage.

"One thing, that woman really has courage," said Richards to much applause.

Volunteers hope to gain enough support to keep Clinton high in Kentucky's polls.

"She's a hardworking soul," said Burns. "She's a mom. We've tried all the other men. Let's give this woman a chance."

The office will be open 12 hours a day from 9 in the morning until 9 at night, in hopes of gathering enough support to put another Clinton one step closer to the White House.

Jackie said: I have met Hillary , and worked with her. She listened to my opionion, and brainstormed with me. She has a GREAT sense of humor. She made all the volunteers laugh many times. Her favorite poet is Robert Frost. She gave me a book of poems for working hard with her. Hillary loves the poem Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening, because it speaks to her heart. The last line says "and, I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep, and miles to go before I sleep". Hillary works 16 to 18 hour days , because she cares about ALL of us. Two of her staff memebers had horrible catastrophes happen. One lady's husband died of a heart attack. The other lady got cancer. Hillary visited and sat with her friend with cancer more than any other person did. Both staff ladies came back to work for Hillary because they love her, and appreciate the compassion Hillary showed." Although I am an Obama supporter, I appreciate this genuine comment about Hillary.

Hillary, please don't give up & don't you dare quit on the citizens of this great country because Democracy needs you, our economy needs you, New York needs you, Florida needs you, Michigan needs you,1600 Pennsylvania Avenue needs you etc., and last but not least this black, hard working college student in NYC needs you as Commander-in-Chief of the United States of America. God Bless and I look forward to seeing you Madame President in the Oval Office.

Hillary would be a president for all Americans. Not just for women. We don't have to worry for one moment if she loves this country. When Obama lost Indiana, he said in his parting speech that he just loved this country. He must have said it 3-4 times. This is all show. Remember his wife said she "had never been proud of this country in her adult life." I'm not so dumb to ever forget that. Have you noticed that Obama always stands flanked by the American flags, as if to say, "See, don't I look presidential?" He doesn't have me fooled. They have announced that he is now wearing the flag pin. I believe he is doing this in hopes to fool all of you. I guess he thinks Hillary's supporters are uneducated and he can fool them into believing he is patriotic, which is what is reported, that the rich and educated are the ones voting for him, so us dummys can be fooled by the lies he speaks or what he does for show. I pray Ky votes for the best candidate next Tues. Hillary Clinton!!

Women, rally around a real leader--a woman! Let's make history and get this country back on its feet. We wll know that Hillary ran the White House for 8 years while Bill was busy with other things. She's smart, she says what she thinks and then backs it up with the facts. Men have had control too long and it is time for them to step aside and let a woman who knows how to handle herself as well as the contry take over. Call or email all your friends and offer to drive them to the polls if they support Hillary. The US has always looked down on us "poor old country folk who ain't got no edukation and don't wear no shoes". I'm a Professor of computers at Marshall University and believe me when I tell you I have enough shoes for all of us. Let's show the country who we really are and not allow the media to stereotype us any longer. It's now or never! GO VOTE

How can anyone think of voting for anyone but Hillary? We need this lady who is strong enough to stand up to the oil companies, the insurance companies, the lenders. We need this lady who knows the heart of a mother, who takes time to understand the pain of one losing a parent. A lady who cares about our veterans and whether or not our men and women return home from war. We don't need a novice who is running against her. We need Hillarie's experience.

I hope and pray Hillary gets the nomination. We need someone who has been in politics long enough to be able to stand the "heat" without giving in to demands of groups/organizations set on overtaking our country and destroying our freedom. As a mother she understands the pain of many single mothers and those mothers who have sons/daughters taken off to war. As a citizen she knows and understands our desires to keep our freedom, to live above poverty, to have insurance when we or our loved ones need medical help. As a citizen she also understands that the middle classed working person cannot continue to pay the escalating gas prices and keep a job. Why work if the hourly pay is going out the exhaust! As a mother, citizen and senator as well as former first lady she knows that paying all ones earnings at the pump will not put milk on the table, provide utilities in ones home,oe healthcare in time of crisis. She has proven she is a strong dependable person who will stand tough on our behalf.

Go Bowling Green, we can still do this for Hillary. KY is truly going to make the difference this year along with WV tonight and the rest of the states and Puerto Rico left to vote. Go Hillary!!! My question is, what are we Democrats trying to do, lose by putting Obama in as our nominee? Does the Democrat Party really fear women power that much that we prefer to lose rather than nominate Hillary? Rest assured there are millions of "US", men and women alike who will not support Obama no matter what Hillary ask us to do. This is a losing path for we Democrats if, we continue on this path. Think voters and superdelegates before we get beat, vote Hillary!!!

WV and KY have been discounted, just like PA, MI, and FL. Congratulations on your support for Senator Clinton and making it heard. This is one Yankee impressed with y'all!

I feel it necessary to point out that the opening had an attendance of 40 supporters compared to Sen. Obama's opening which had 300 people in attendance and opened weeks before the Clinton campaign showed up here in town. Where is the balance in your coverage? Does having over seven times as many people fired up for a candidate not worth mentioning?

Posted by: tonya Location: bowling green on May 13, 2008 at 03:37 PM
Crowds turned out? The newspaper said there were 40 people there. And a lot of those were friends and families of her small group of supporters. Hardly what I would describe as "crowds".

I am a "NASCAR Dad" and supporting Senator Clinton. Today we are in a tough spot in our country and it is no time for gambling on promises of change without a record of accomplishment. Say what you will of Mrs. Clinton but she is a known quantity we can count on to lead us back to the economic strength we enjoyed under her husband's terms. Senator Obama, I am sure means well but his lack of experience could lead to change for the worse. The U.S. Presidency is no place for a trainee. If your body was in the condition of our economy would you hire an inexperienced doctor or an experienced one? Also if for no other reason Kentucky needs to send a message to the talking heads of Washington and New York with a landslide victory for Senator Clinton. We can not let them ignore Kentucky the way they have tried to ignore West Virginia. We deserve to be heard as much as any other state. Do not let CNN decide this race! Send a message with a vote for Clinton!

I've thought about changing to Independent to vote for Hillary because she is proving she is a fighter. And maybe she would put some of that determination toward improving our economy. However, if Mrs. Clinton is not the demorcratic candidate, I am going for another candidate who also has experience. If it's Hillary and McCain I have a decision to make. If not my mind is made up.

Thank you for supporting Hillary, she is the best.

I am not sure that Hillary can or will break the old cycle of politics as usual in Washington. She is bound to be obligated to the Super Rich individuals and corporations that pour money by the millions into political campaigns and then expect legislative and political favors in return. I do not question her loyalty to America. I do have some doubts about Obama's loyalty and committment to America first, since he apparently will not pledge his allegiance to the Flag of the U.S. of America, will not place his hand over his heart when the National Anthem is played and he has resisted wearing an American Flag pin on his lapel. I just wonder who is obligated to whom and why. May God help us to make the correct choice.

Go Hillary, You are the best all around. if anyone can get us out of this mess we are in, it's you. I am going to the polls and voting for Hillary Clinton. I just hope that everyone else goes and vote for her on may 20, 2008. keep up the good work Hillary and we will all be cheering for you on the big day.

We are behind Senator Clinton all the way to the Convention. We demand Florida and Michigan representation. There is no "victory" without all 50 states. Go Hillary!!
