McConnell Campaigning For GOP Candidate In KY
U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell is campaigning in northeastern Kentucky on behalf of a Republican running for a seat in the state legislature.

GRAYSON, Ky. (AP) -- U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell is campaigning in northeastern Kentucky on behalf of a Republican running for a seat in the state legislature.
McConnell, the Senate Republican leader, made stops Tuesday in Greenup and Carter counties and planned to go to Mason County later in the day. He was working on behalf of state Senate hopeful Jack Ditty, a Russell dermatologist.
Ditty is facing state Rep. Robin Webb, a Grayson Democrat and lawyer, for the state Senate seat that was left empty when Charlie Borders resigned for a job with the Public Service Commission.
Both parties are fighting for control of the seat. Republicans now hold majority control in the Senate with 20 of 37 seats.
The election is set for Aug. 25.
