Wednesday afternoon Congressman Brett Guthrie joined Gene Birk in our studio to discuss health care reform during a live one-hour web chat on wbko.com.
The second district U.S. Representative has been using his time away from Washington, to travel throughout the area, hearing directly from the voters. But Wednesday he was able to respond to health care concerns from people all over the district via the internet.
Said Congressman Guthrie: "It was just a great way for people to ask questions and to continue to talk about the bill. I know people are anxious about the bill, concerned about what it can mean for the country, but the second thing they're anxious about is their health care and what's going to happen if nothing is done."
"The status quo is not acceptable," Guthrie continued. "But going down the path of the single-payer socialized program isn't acceptable to me either. And that's been the vast majority of opinion."
Congressman Guthrie says we'll find out in September which way Congress will go on this controversial health care reform bill.
