The chairman of the Senate Finance Committee is set to begin trying to convince fellow Democrats his health care overhaul plan is the right way to go.

It's a special closed door session today for Senate Democrats as Max Baucus explains his $856 billion package.

It seeks to provide competition, hold insurance companies accountable, and ensure Americans have real choices when they buy insurance.

But Baucus acknowledges he could face a hard sell, especially among Democrats who prefer the public option. Baucus' proposal calls for co-ops to compete with private insurance companies.

Other believe Baucus' plan doesn't do enough to control costs or help the middle class afford insurance.
