Democrat Daniel Mongiardo has won the endorsement of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for his U.S. Senate campaign.

The union represents nearly 10,000 workers in Kentucky.

State President Bill Finn said in a written statement on Monday that Mongiardo would be a senator who would fight for working men and women.

Mongiardo is Kentucky's lieutenant governor. He faces Attorney General Jack Conway and two other Democrats in the Democratic primary campaign.

Three candidates are facing off on the Republican side.
