Monroe County Man to Run for GOP State Rep.
Nominee will run for James Comer's vacated seat.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Tompkinsville insurance man Bart Rowland will be the Republican nominee for a House seat left vacant when former Representative James Comer was elected state agriculture commissioner.

Rowland was nominated Thursday evening by the Republican executive committees of Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe and Monroe counties.

The special election is set for February 7.

Democrats are scheduled to select their nominee on Monday.
