Western Kentucky University broadcasting professor Terry Likes has received a national award for his reporting from the Broadcast Education Association.

Likes’ entry, “The Changing Faces of the Evening News,” won second place in the radio documentary production category in the BEA’s Faculty Audio Competition. The award will be presented April 20 during the BEA conference in Las Vegas.

The nine-minute documentary, which aired last July on WKYU-FM, took a look at historic changes in the network evening news anchor desk and how new anchors face a challenge to prove the vitality of the evening news genre after years of declining audiences.
