Gingerbread Dough for Cookies or Houses
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup melted solid shortening
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light or dark corn syrup
  • 2 large eggs, room temp.
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp Ginger
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp cloves
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 5 1/2 to 5 3/5 flour
  • Directions:
    Pour melted shortening into bowl of electric mixer. Mix in sugar and corn syrup. Add eggs, mixing until incorporated. Add dry ingredients a little at a time. You might need to add the last of the flour in by hand kneading. Place dough on clean counter top, roll to 1/4 inch thick and cut into shapes. Bake 375 degrees for 7-9 minutes until golden brown.
