A new report shows that teachers assaulting students remains a common problem in schools nationwide.

The report states that in Kentucky, state officials have handled nearly 100 cases of teacher sexual misconduct in the past five years. That's about two violations a month in an academic school year.

The cases range from teachers using sexual language to more serious cases like inappropriate touching, sodomy and rape.

The report also shows from 2001 to 2005, 95 teachers had their licenses suspended or revoked.

Kentucky's figures were gathered as part of a seven-month investigation in which Associated Press reporters sought records on teacher discipline in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
