A college student accused of killing her newborn baby is out of jail after posting a $50,000 bond.

Nineteen-year-old Kathryn McCoy, a Bellarmine University sophomore, was arraigned early Oct. 26 on a charge of murder, concealing the birth of an infant and tampering with evidence.

On Oct. 24, Louisville police were called to McCoy's dormitory after an infant was found.

She told police she gave birth to the girl and the infant fell into the toliet causing her death.

Officials say other students got suspicious when she spent an hour in the bathroom and then took a bag into the trash room.

She is due back in court in early November.

McCoy's attorney says Kathryn and her parents would not be talking publicly at this point.
