Officials in Pikeville called off schools on Oct. 29 in order to disinfect against the spread of MRSA.

MRSA, a form of staph infection, is resistant to antibiotics.

It's believed the bacteria was the cause of the death of a 17-year-old in Virginia earlier this month.

School districts and jails in Kentucky have reported possible cases of the bacteria.

Pikeville Superintendent Roger Wagner says classrooms, bathrooms, cafeterias and hallways will be disinfected before classes resume in the schools.
