The near miss of a tragedy occurred Tuesday, February 23, in Littleton, Colorado, just three miles away from the notorious Columbine school shooting 11 years ago.

Thirty-two-year old Bruco Eastwood reportedly fired off two shots which nicked two eighth-graders, but it took just one shot to send a a mob of teachers and bus drivers to tackle the shooter.

"Norm was on top and I was on the bottom of the bad guy sandwich," said teacher David Benke.

Becky Brown, Assistant Principal, said, "David tackled him, rolled around a bit, so I grabbed the gun and got it by the leather strap and got it out of him."

The two students who were shot are expected to recover.

Despite the injuries, Benke says training and drills put into place after the Columbine massacre in 1999 worked.
