School is still out for summer, but a new foundation is working hard to "lift children higher."

The Warren Foundation for Academic Excellence was started by Don Basham after he went to a conference on school foundations.

The organization's primary focuses are to enhance literacy for students in kindergarten through 4th grade, advance math and science for gifted students and recognize the accomplishments of educators.

As the foundation grows, its members hope to expand their efforts to surrounding communities.
