Louisville 8th Grader Wins State Geographic Bee at WKU
An eighth-grader from Louisville's Meyzeek Middle School has won the National Geographic Bee for Kentucky in Bowling Green.

Nivedita Khandkar received a monetary award, a CD set containing every National Geographic Magazine, and an expenses-paid trip to the national competition in Washington, DC next month.

Runners-up Friday were Christopher Evan Clark, a sixth-grader from College View Middle School in Owensboro, and Nolan Scott Calhoun, a seventh-grader from Grant County Middle School in Williamstown.

The winning question identified the Congo River as the second longest African river that flows past Kinshasa before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean.
