Texting Outnumbers Talking on Cell Phones
New data shows cell phones are increasingly being used not for talking but for sending texts.

Latest figures show American cell phone users sent 740-billion text messages in the first half of 2009, almost double the number of texts sent in the first half of 2008.

And while the average length of cell phone calls has dropped to just over two minutes, the number of minutes being used overall has increased, as 277-million Americans now subscribe to cell phone services.
