Anniversary of Man on the Moon
NASA celebrates the 42nd anniversary of putting a man on the moon.

On this day in 1969, the United States made space history. Astronauts landed on the moon.
Apollo 11 commander, Neil Armstrong, stepped out of the lunar module and said it was "One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind."
Armstrong, along with Buzz Aldrin, planted an American flag on the moon's surface, while Michael Collins orbited above.
The lunar landing was one of President John F. Kennedy's goals, to put an American on the moon by the end of the decade
