UNDATED (AP) -- In Tokyo's Ginza shopping district, people have been holding up images of flickering candles on their iPads. Others are tapping out tributes on iPhones.

The Apple website, which usually features slick presentations of multicolored iPods and MacBooks, simply displays a black-and-white photo of Jobs, who founded and ran the company until health problems forced him to leave.

One shopper at the Apple store in Sydney, Australia, says Jobs left a legacy that rivals that of Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein. A Canadian man visiting New York noted that he had received the news of Jobs' death yesterday on the phone that Jobs had invented.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is thanking Jobs for changing the world.

Jobs died yesterday at the age of 56, two days after Apple introduced the latest incarnation of his revolutionary touch-screen phone. Outside the company's California headquarters, flags are flying at half-staff.
