Midland, MI - Kyle Spraker picked up another RBI for the Hot Rods on Sunday afternoon, driving home a two-out run in the top of the seventh inning. Spraker's third straight game with an RBI wasn't enough as Bowling Green dropped its second straight to the Loons, 5-2, at Dow Diamond.

For the second straight game, the Hot Rods found themselves in an early hole as the Loons' Brian Cavazos-Galvez smacked a two-run homer off Yorman Mayora in the first inning. Two frames later Mayora allowed another run to score to build the Loons lead to 3-0.

Mayora left after four innings, giving up three runs on six hits and a pair of walks. He gave way to Aaron Dott, who allowed two runs in the fifth inning on a two doubles and a walk to give the Loons a 5-0 lead.

After Dott worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth, Spraker and the offense showed signs of lift in the seventh. With just two hits to that point in the game, Tomas Francisco and Dustin Biell began the frame with a single and double, respectively, to put runners at second and third with nobody out. Dave Wendt followed with a sacrifice fly to center field to plate Francisco and cut the deficit to 5-1. That brought up Spraker, who pounded a single to left-center to score Biell for the inning's second run.

That was as close as the Hot Rods could get as starter Ryan Christenson allowed just two runs over 6.2 innings to earn the win. Steve Smith and Steve Ames kept the Hot Rods scoreless the rest of the way.

The Hot Rods managed just five hits and the pair of runs against the trio of Loons pitchers. Five different players accumulated the hits, including Ty Morrison, who has hit safely in nine of ten games entering the season finale on Monday. Morrison also stole two bases to give him 58 on the year.

The Hot Rods now play the final game of 2010 against the Loons on Monday afternoon from Dow Diamond. LHP C.J. Riefenhauser (0-0, 0.00) makes his second and final appearance against Loons RHP Matt Magill (7-4, 3.28). First pitch is at 2:05 PM CDT. You can listen to the game with Tom Gauthier beginning at 1:50 on 1340 WBGN and www.bghotrods.com.
