WKU's Outerbridge Named Sun Belt Conference Soccer Player Of The Week

Bowling Green, KY. — WKU Lady Topper soccer junior forward Mallory Outerbridge has been named the Sun Belt Conference Soccer Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the league office.

The junior from Regina, Saskatchewan helped lead the Lady Toppers to their first victory in 2010 with a 4-0 win over Evansville at the WKU Soccer Complex Friday evening.

Outerbridge posted her first goal of the season in the 61st minute of action Friday evening, giving the Lady Toppers a 2-0 lead. A short 18 minutes later she tallied her second goal on a penalty kick. The two goals marked a career-high goals in a single match for Outerbridge.

To top it off, Outerbridge was a part of every goal in the 4-0 victory, as she earned an assist on the other two Lady Topper goals. The two goals and two assists earned her six points in the match, a career-high points in a single match for Outerbridge. The six points also puts her tied for third on WKU’s all-time single game points list. Outerbridge tallied six shots with four on goal in the match.

This is Outerbridge's first career player of the week award. She is the first Lady Topper to be named Sun Belt Conference Soccer Player of the Week since Kellie Walker earned the honor last season for the week of October 13, 2009.

Up Next: The 2010 WKU Lady Topper soccer team (1-2-1) will return to the WKU Soccer Complex for their third straight home match Friday evening against Ball State, match is slated for a 6:00 p.m. start. WKU will hit the road to take on Eastern Kentucky Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
