After two straight losses, Butler County appeared only to need a brief respite to resume its winning ways.

The Bears (4-3) had lost Class 3A District 2 contests to Russellville and Edmonson County leading into its off week, but returned from the break with a 49-8 win at Muhlenberg North Friday.

Jason Bird's 123 rushing yards led the Bears' ground attack, while Jessie Stivers led Butler County with 143 yards through the air to help spoil the Stars' Senior night.

The Bears travel westward next week to visit Webster County, while Muhlenberg North (0-7) visits one of the state's most powerful passing offenses in a trip to Lone Oak.
