Glasgow ensured itself a home playoff game in the Class 2A District 3 playoffs with a 21-14 victory Friday night over Metcalfe County.
The Scotties converted a crucial third and goal late in the 4th quarter when Tyler Lindsey threw a touchdown pass to Jordan York for the game winning score.
However, it was the Scotties' defense in the second half that may have had the biggest hand in the win.
With the game tied at 14 in the third quarter, the defense forced and recovered a Curtis Asbell fumble at the Glasgow 30-yard line.
Later, after a Tyler Lindsey interception, Metcalfe County marched the ball inside the Glasgow 5-yard line. But Glasgow made a stand with a Blake Perkins tackle on third down and then Corey Witcher wrapped up Daniel Deleon for a 5-yard loss on fourth and goal.
In the win, Glasgow survived a 132 yard, two touchdown performance from Deleon.
The two schools will meet again in Glasgow in the first round of the District 2 playoffs November 9th.
Glasgow (6-2, 2-1 Class 2A District 3) hosts Franklin-Simpson next Friday while Metcalfe County (6-2, 1-2) will travel to Caverna.
