Bowling Green, Ky. — The Western Kentucky University volleyball team will be the third seed in next week’s Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Denver, Colo. The Lady Toppers will face sixth-seeded New Orleans on Thursday (Nov. 15) at 6 p.m. (CST) in the tournament quarterfinals.
WKU (25-7, 14-3 SBC) is seeded behind East Division champion Middle Tennessee (16-1 SBC) and Denver (15-3), which earned the West Division title. The Blue Raiders will meet Arkansas State in the first match on Thursday, while the Pioneers face North Texas in the Lady Toppers’ half of the bracket. No. 4 UALR will meet No. 5 Florida International in the other quarterfinal to fill out the eight-team field.
UNO is the only team in which the Lady Toppers do not hold at least one victory against this season. The Privateers earned 3-2 win in New Orleans back on Oct. 20. A WKU victory in the quarterfinals would set up a matchup with the Denver/North Texas winner in the semifinals, with the championship match scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday.
