Russellville marched through the regular season in Class 3A District 2 largely untested and was favored to repeat the feat Friday hosting Edmonson County.

The Wildcats had different ideas, but the result was the same nonetheless.

Edmonson County battled its way to a 7-7 tie at halftime against the Panthers, but a powerful Russellville offense had its way after the intermission and led the Panthers to a 33-14 win.

Dustin Sydnor finished with 126 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries for Russellville, while Mikie Benton carried 11 times for 52 yards and a touchdown and finished 4-of-5 passing for 95 yards and another score.

Coty Batteiger was Edmonson County's star for the evening, carrying 24 times for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

Russellville (10-2) now visits Louisville Central in next week's Class 3A quarterfinals, while the Wildcats' season ends at 6-6.
