Freshman guard Alex Legion decided to transfer Monday from the Kentucky basketball program - a decision official enough the university issued a news release confirming his desire and removed his name from the team roster on its official athletics web site.
But published reports Tuesday night indicate Legion might want a do-over.
Seth Davis of SI.com and Jerry Tipton of the Lexington Herald-Leader both reported the freshman was reconsidering his decision. Davis cited sources close to Legion, while Tipton spoke to Legion's mother.
"I'm told he and (head coach) Billy (Gillispie) have worked out their differences," Annette Legion told Tipton. “If that’s true, I will support him. I don’t have a problem if he goes back. He’s the one that’s doing the hardship. He’s the one doing the workouts.”
In a Monday's release from the university, Gillispie said Legion had first spoken to him Friday about his desire to leave but seemed to cool off as the weekend progressed. Monday, Legion decided to transfer.
Legion, who is from the Detroit area, had averaged 6.7 points in 17.5 minutes while playing in all six UK games (including two starts) this season.
