A nearly two-week saga involving freshman guard Alex Legion's status with the UK basketball program seems to be over, with the Lexington Herald-Leader reporting on its web site Tuesday night Legion's set to move on to another school.
Tim Green, Legion's godfather and former AAU coach, told the newspaper his godson had finally decided UK wasn't the place for him.
“The bottom line is he’s ready to get out of there,” Green told the paper. “ ... Ultimately, in his heart, he wants to move on.”
The final decision came after Legion had apparently wavered several times on whether he wanted to play in Lexington. The university announced Dec. 3 Legion was transferring, but not until head coach Billy Gillispie said the player talked to him Nov. 30 about leaving and then changed his mind before the Wildcats played North Carolina the next day.
After the announcement from the school, word came last Thursday Legion was interested in a return, but Tuesday's news seemed to end Legion's career as a Wildcat.
Legion, a Detroit native, averaged 6.7 points in 17.5 minutes a game through UK's first six contests.
